Concrete jungle - Versatile Fashionista

Before this photo shoot I had already planned a trip to NYC for a couple of events. Prior to my  trip, my friend asked if I wanted to do a photoshoot with her, and of course I said yes! I was able to put 2 looks together, but I still wanted more options. I wasn’t feeling inspired enough here in Boston , so I decided to wait until I got to the city that never fails me when it come to fashion to find inspiration.

Often referred to as the “concrete jungle”, this was the place where I would get all my inspiration from before I even became a blogger. New York City was the melting pot where the streets were always filled with all kinds of people during the daytime and at night. A place where people from different parts of the world roamed the streets. Some were business professionals, artists, students, tourists, and the list goes on. Obviously the people that mostly stood out to me were the ones that were always dressed fashionably. No matter what I would always get inspired.

Immediately after I got to the city, I headed to Herald Square to see what I could find at some of my favorite places to shop, Zara and H&M.

I got into H&M first, and there were people everywhere because of the annual sale. I headed to the sale section and after looking through the ladies department, I found 2 items that I thought would be perfect for the shoot. I found a button down dark wash denim dress for only $34.99 (sold out), a must have closet staple for all seasons.

I wanted to do 3 or 4 looks for the shoot so I definitely needed another outfit or two. I thought about the garments that I had packed for my trip, keeping the colors in mind to better help me as I shopped. I found a stripped color block mini skirt on sale for $10.00 (sold out), and I knew what I definitely wanted to wear it with. I was satisfied with my items, and I didn’t want to waste anymore time shopping so I left.

It wasn’t hard for me to figure out the best way to incorporate the mini skirt with the denim dress. For look number one, I wore the denim dress buttoned. It was such a struggle to button around my stomach area because I’ve put on a few extra pounds. I sucked in my stomach, and held my breath in between shots hoping that the buttons wouldn’t pop open.

For the second look, I didn’t change anything. This time around I used the denim dress as a jacket rather. I already had the garments on. All I did was unbutton the denim dress to expose the lace-up open toe gladiator boots from Misguided, as well as the color block mini skirt.

Versatility is always key in fashion! X.O.X.O…Jackie O.
